Class Description (Geography):

 

This class is designed to study the Eastern Hemisphere focusing on the five themes of geography.  Utilizing these themes students will learn about the physical characteristics including climate, resources and landforms.  They will also learn about the culture including government, economic systems, history and religion.  Value of diversity of all people will be emphasized throughout each unit. While we will not be starting off with face-to-face interactions, we will try our best to conduct our class with as much enthusiasm and normalcy as possible through our daily Google Meet time.

 

Class Description (Science):

 

This class will cover topics from physical, earth, space, and life science.  We will learn in various ways, including: class discussions, inquiry activities, lab experiences, student presentations and group collaboration; most importantly, we will have fun while we learn together! While we will not be starting off with face-to-face interactions, we will try our best to conduct our class with as much enthusiasm and normalcy as possible through our daily Google Meet time.

 

Student Evaluation:

 

Students will be evaluated in various ways such as quizzes/tests, projects, classwork/ homework, class participation and semester final.

 

Grading Rubric:

90-100 =   A

80-89   =   B

70-79   =   C

60-69   =   D

0-59     =   F

 

Expectations:

 
  • Be Polite -- Respect yourself, your classmates, and staff (teacher/administrator/ other adults) in the classroom.
  • Be Prepared -- Come prepared for class EVERY DAY!  Bring all supplies and any assigned work with you.
  • Be Prompt -- Arrive to class on time, quickly gather any supplies for the day, be in your seat working on daily bell work.
  • Be Productive -- Use your time wisely.  Remain on task at all times.  Follow directions.
  • Be Positive -- Have a positive attitude in class.  Work together and avoid negative statements and feelings.
 

Cell Phones: (once we return to campus)

 

Phones must be turned off when coming into Geography class.  A “Red/Yellow/Green light” is posted at the front of the class to show whether or not phone usage is allowed for a particular day.

 

Late Work:

 

An assignment can be turned in up to two (2) days late for partial credit.

 

Make Up Work:

 

You have 2 days for each absence to make up any missed work.  When you are absent, it is your responsibility to get work out of the assignment folder or speak with Mrs. Lane.  If you are present when the assignment is given, it is due on the assigned date; if you are absent the day it is due, it must be turned in the first day back to class.  If a test is missed, a specific date will be scheduled to make it up.
