My name is Cathy Hill. I have been at the Owasso 7th Grade Center since 2007 and prior to that taught at both Smith and Northeast Elementary beginning of the year 2000. Honestly my favorite thing about teaching especially seventh-graders is the relationship I have with them. I feel like I'm there as more of a mentor sometimes than a teacher because seventh graders are going through so many different changes and challenges and I remember being an awkward adolescent even as old as I am. I think the most rewarding thing honestly is the relationship. Also those lightbulb moments English is one of things that a lot of kids coming to my class not liking and I really tried to show them the real life application and I love it when I see you them get excited that they understand something that they didn't before. I prefer with my 7th graders is walking alongside them. And I think it's very important that I teach them like the content my subject area but I think it's as important that I Mentor them through life. That i teach them compassion by showing compassion resilience by showing resiliense and teach them civic responsibility and community service by participating myself in that letting them know that. I think it's really important as Educators to mentor and to jsut walk alongside them we moved to Owasso Public Schools and it was my dream to teach in Owasso in school at the time. You know I stayed home with my kids. Ron Hughes was the principal at Smith Elementary when my kids went. Loved him. He's an incredible man and he encouraged me to go for it. It had been my callingsince I was a young girl and I feel like I am still feeling that at Owasso. My name is Cathy Hill and I am in Owasso Ram!
